How Aromatherapy Helps in Weight Loss

Many people are now engaging themselves in weight loss programs.  This is because to the fact that many people want to be slimmer and that the cases of obesity are increasing.  Many professionals are devising some ways on how to have a successful weight loss program.

The effect of this is that people have now many choices but they are now confused on what programs are effective.  Some go for the fast weight loss program and some do the natural way.  One of the said effective ways is using aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is used in many things.  Believe it or not, it is also used in losing weight and can give effective results.  Aromatherapy can help people by controlling the cravings and hunger at the same time eliminates the factors that affect weight gain like stress and depression.  These are the two things that aromatherapy can do in order to help in weight loss.

Studies have shown that the sense of smell and appetite are connected.  Further, it is shown that smell can affect the fullness of stomach.  With this, the essential oils can control the appetite of the person.  The molecules released by the oils go to the hypothalamus and control the satiety center that further controls the appetite and the fullness of the person.  With this, the person who smelled the oil will suddenly feel that he or she is not hungry.  Another advantage of this is that the sojourn of the molecules reaches the hypothalamus much faster than the signal released by the stomach.

Pink Grapefruit essential oil is the most well-known oil that can be used for weight loss programs.  Other oils are Ginger, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Patchouli, Spearmint, Sandalwood, Basil, Peppermint, Thyme, Vanilla, Lemon, Fennel, Cumin, Dill, and Ylang Ylang.  These oils suppress the appetite of people who smell them.  These oils should also be inhaled for five minutes in order for the appetite to be suppressed.  Otherwise, they can stimulate the appetite and this is not good.

It is advisable that dieters should always have with them these oils so every time that they feel they need to suppress their hunger, they will only inhale the oils and they will be fine.  But it should also be clear that dieters should eat from time to time and do not suppress the hunger every time they feel it.  They should still eat because their body needs nutrients from the food that they eat.

Handy aromatherapy can be put in a bottle so that people can use them whenever they need them.  One way is to put a coarse sea salt with the oil combinations in a bottle with very dark tint.  These inhalers can be used by taking three slow and deep breaths.  After a while, inhale three more times.  Do this exercise three times.  Having a handy aromatherapy inhaler can increase the possibility that you will be able to use the oils.  Inhaling the oils frequently will mean that they will become more effective.  You can have different combinations each day so you will not be fed up with the oils that you use.
