Making the choice: weight loss diet or pills?
‘Diet’ translates into the normal food and beverage a person ingests in a day. ‘Dieting’ is the process of subscribing in a diet to lose weight. This term works in many ways. It most popularly refers to the method of losing weight, but could also work with gaining some pounds or to the normalizing of the bulk of specific nutrients being absorbed by the body.
Weight loss diet is mostly focused on losing the pounds and is sometimes being interchanged with terms ‘obesity diet’ or reducing diet’. It is, however, different from “fad diet”, the other popular crash dieting which works through a very strict food plan or completely banning certain foods without even considering their nutritional benefits.
Fad diets are really fast in losing weight, requiring very low calorie intake. Yet, these methods are not exactly healthy because instead of taking out the fats, the dieter loses water. It is also deceptive because the weight will be easily regained when the dieter goes back to his or her regular eating habits and loads. Some more popular examples of Fad diets are the Cabbage Soup diet and the Grapefruit diet.
But there are always the better alternatives to these unhealthy practices. Good weight loss diet operates mainly on balancing and maintaining a low fat diet, which is, of course, always considered as the best weight loss diet. By balancing the nutrients going in the body, like high amounts of carbohydrates with low fat and moderate protein, the combination makes a balanced low fat diet. Some also notes that these healthy diets should also be rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetable, which as we know, have tons of medicinal benefits and are guaranteed for better weight control.
Surgical methods could also be opted by those really interested in losing some weight quickly. Liposuction is one available option, focusing on target areas and taking out the fat. Another is the Bariatric surgeries which are a series of different medical operations mostly on the stomach to reduce the intake or absorption of nutrients. But like all medical procedures, these weight loss procedures are also risky and with side effects.
Taking pills or drugs are also an available option. Also sometimes called as “anti-obesity drugs” which have pharmacological effects for reducing or controlling weight, they come in prescribed herbal or chemical supplements that work through managing the appetite, boosting physical and chemical activities in the body, and/or enhancing body metabolism. These drugs sometimes contain fenfluoramine, ephedra, nicotine or even cocaine in controlled doses. However, it must be stressed that most of these drugs are medically prescribed for treatment of extreme obesity, where the medications are highly important to save a life.
There are hundreds of ways to lose weight, just make sure that you will not compromise or put your health and person at risk just for the sake of losing some pounds quickly.
